A good quality three-bottle oak tantalus dating from the early 20th century. The oak frame has quality metal mounts and a handle which folds back and releases the bottles when the lock is clicked. The cut glass bottles are good quality with star cut bases and their original ground stoppers. It is in good condition throughout and displays well. It does not come with a key but the click-lock still works. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use. Tantaluses were originally designed as secure drinks cabinets, with locks to prevent servants, butlers or some family members from sampling the very expensive contents of the decanters.
