A rare Louis Leloup (B.1929) spherical crystal cosmos vase with label atop and signature to base. Belgium. Great condition.
Complete with certification booklet, translated ‘This piece was mouth blown and entirely completed by hand in the workshops of the master glassmaker L.Leloup’.
In 1947, when he was only 17 years old, Louis joined the Val-Saint-Lambert crystal house as an apprentice glassmaker. From a very young age, he had dreamed of becoming an opera singer, however his respiratory power was instead used as an indispensable quality to practise the art of glassblowing .
His works can be found worldwide and since 1997, a Louis Leloup museum has been entirely dedicated to him in Kyoto, Japan.
LeLoup was knighted in 2014 with the order of Leopold, Royal Decree, Belgium.
