A monstrance is the vessel used in the Roman Catholic, Old Catholic and Anglican churches to display the consecrated Eucharistic host, during Eucharistic adoration or Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
The word monstrance comes from the Latin word monstrare, meaning “to show”.
