A transitional early twentieth century silver plated rectangular serving tray by Cailar & Bayard. The tray features foliate and pearl handles and finely chiseled silver metal on copper decorated with a geometric pattern around the edge. The guilloche background is decorated in the center with an oval cartouche and arrow pattern and also on the corners. Cailar & Bayard was founded in 1848 by Noel Cailar and Pierre Bayard and they were located in Paris. It was bought by Bouillet & Bourdelle in early 1900s and Cailar & Bayard closed in 1934. There are factory hallmarks on the back, with the trademark of C & B, the No 31977 was the order No, and the silver content is 420 grams. There is some light scratching commensurate with age and use.
