A Napoleon III style silver plated champagne bucket from Ercuis, a silversmith based in Northern France, established in 1867. Beaded pearl decoration to the rim and ring handles with Foo dog faces. Foo dogs are actually lions that originated in China. Foo dogs are symbolic, protective statues – one is female and one is male. The female represents yin and symbolically protects the people dwelling in the home, while the male represents yang, protecting the structure itself.
