A sleekly designed antique silverplated French chocolate/coffee pot for two from the 1880’s with the characteristic wooden side-pour handle and a hinged lid. A familiar sight on aristocratic tables and in high-end coffee bars since the 1750’s, the side-pour pot – used for either coffee or chocolate – was a sign of affluence since both chocolate and coffee were considered to be a luxuries until the middle of the XIXth century and served in small cups. Due its size it is likely it was a hotel chocolatière.
