Outstanding antique 19th century ebonised crucifix with hand carved ivory Christ figure c.1890.

The carving depicts Christ wearing the Crown of Thorns and an elaborately draped loin cloth held in place with a carved rope. The crucifix is surmounted by an ivory titulus inscribed INRI, Latin for Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.
Ivory plaque to the back reads:
