$1,850.00
An English, late 19th century oak work table with a heavy decorative cast iron base on castors. Designed to fit beside a bed or chair, the oak table is height adjustable and can be used flat for eating or angled for books, magazines or sheet music. The folding table flaps have a pair of brass page stays for easier reading. This is quality metal work with patent stamp and a makers mark for the Birmingham makers William Tonks & Sons. This company manufactured architectural hardware, art metalware, and ecclesiastical metalwork. William Tonks founded this firm in the late eighteenth century. They won gold medals at the 1851 and 1862 Exhibitions in London, as well as Paris in 1855.
