$750.00
An antique (likely French), ebonised wooden crucifix with silver plated religious embellishments c.1850 – 1880. The snake symbolises Satan (in the guise of a serpent) who instigated the fall by tricking Eve into breaking God’s command. Therefore the serpent can represent temptation, the Devil and deceit. The skull and crossbones represents. INRI means Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews. The skull and cross bones represents death, which is subjected to Jesus on the cross. The crucifix is shown with a Pair of French antique Grisaille Fauteuils c.1820
