Superb pair of late 19th.c. pale oak stacking office bookcases by the US manufacturer Globe Wernicke c.1899. Four stacks to each which could be re-arranged to make two bookcases of different heights. With their patented lift and slide door mechanism, brass button knobs and clear makerﾒs stamps. Excellent colour and condition that have been cleaned and polished.

The first Globe Wernicke bookcase was produced in 1899 by the Wernicke Company. During World War Two, the company turned its manufacturing toward materials that would assist in the war effort. Globe Wernicke bookcases are highly collected today.
