A 19th century plaster ecorche statue of a man. An Ecorché is an anatomical figure without the skin, so that the muscular structure is visible for biological and artistic purposes. A variety of life-size plaster casts were made from Jean-Antoine Houdon’s (1741- 1828) “L’Ecorche” sculpture sometime after 1766 when the original figure was first conceived. Jean-Antoine Houdon was a French Old Masters sculptor who was born in 1741. Houdon was a master of human anatomy and his “L’ Ecorché” is one of his most famous works. Some historic repairs.
