Antique French classical eight day striking gilded mantle clock c.1890 by Phillipe Mourey. This timepiece features the Virgin Mary sitting on a chair holding baby Jesus. The circular analogue clock with a porcelain dial is in lovely condition. Gilded metal and bronze with pressed scrolls and raised patterns to the base. Strikes on the bell on the hour and the half hour. It has been fully serviced and polished so it is in full working order. Phillipe Mourey was a master French sculptor. He was best known for his work combining porcelain plaques and metal mounts and had a close association with Japy Freres & Company, the noted 19th century Paris clock maker.
