Raised Terrestrial globe by Thury et Belnet on a scagliola base ( Scagliola is a composite substance made from selenite, glue and natural pigments, imitating marble). The terrestrial globe is surmounted by a replacement hour disk (this would originally have had a marked metal full meridian).
The Empire-revival stand is on four curved quadrant rod supports connected by a pine-cone-form meridian holder, with an acanthus-decorated connector on a scagliola column stepped base. There are some nibbles to the base as seen in the photos. The map surface physically is in raised relief showing relative mountain heights. Simple cartography, lands in cream and green colors, some red outlining. Alaska referred to as Amerique Russe (indicated a date before 1869). The stand is in the French Empire taste, typical of decorative arts revival styles of the Napoleon III period in France (c. 1852-1870). The cartouche states this globe won prizes in the Paris Exposition of 1855 and the Dijon Exposition of 1858.
